My name is Klaus Heymach. I was born in 1973 in the city of Mainz and grew up between the vineyards of Southern Germany. In Hamburg, I studied Political Science and Journalism. As a journalist, I’ve traveled to countries like Yemen, Azerbaijan and Brazil. I worked at the news desk of a news agency for seven years and have been based in Berlin-Kreuzberg as a freelance journalist and photographer since 2011.

It’s through documentary wedding photography that I started working in reportage and portrait photography. I quickly realized that I most like photographing people. As well as documentary stories, like in families. And portraits, of course; natural, authentic and lively.

It’s journalism which also defines my approach to photography. As a photographer, I love to meet people, listen to their stories und read in their faces.

I love good cappuccino and fresh smoothies. I listen to podcasts a lot, have recently started studying the Ukulele and at the piano, I’m learning Chilly Gonzales’s etudes. You want to know more? I’ll tell you during a cup of coffee before our photo session!
